Busch Buccaneers

Cystic Fibrosis

The Busch Buccaneers - Paddles of Fury is a Barrie, Ontario based dragon boat team headed up by Mr. Craig Busch of Busch Systems International. We are a community mixed team made up of Busch Systems employees, friends and family. Each year our team looks forward to working together towards fitness and competition in a fun, friendly and stress free environment. As most of you know, Carol's daughter has cystic fibrosis (she was diagnosed at the age of 5). Her daughter, Kaylee, follows a daily routine of medications and routines to help her lead a healthy life. She experienced her first bout of hospitalization this last winter. However, in reading Kaylee's write up, you will be inspired by her zest for life! Through her advocacy, Kaylee hopes to help all those living with cystic fibrosis lead healthy, bright and full futures.

Dragon Boat Barrie - PowerStrokes

Canadian Cancer Society and SickKids Foundation

The PowerStrokes Dragon Boat Team was created to give those people in the community a chance to improve their dragon boating skills while gaining experience through community and competitive dragon boat events without having to fully commit themselves to the training regimen of a fully fledged competitive dragon boat racing team. As a team we support many local events and charities. This year we are focusing our fundraising efforts to two charities close to our heart.

Paddle For Gilda's Club Simcoe Muskoka

PaddleStrong was formed in 2009 by a group of paddlers that wanted more than just one race per season. Through the years we became more competitive and grew to beat our best times across the province. We merged in 2017 with the Simcoe Sirens - StrongSirens and became the reigning champions of the Barrie Festival. In 2018 we are back to our original name with our hard core paddlers ready to defend our title. PaddleStrong is coached by Scott Murray, National Team Coach and head of Pickering Dragon Boat Club. We are always recruiting and welcome new faces who want to take their paddling to the next level.
